What is occupational/hand therapy?

Sep8th 2016

Occupational Therapy (OT) practitioners ask, “What matters to you?” not, “What’s the matter with you?” Through the therapeutic use of everyday activities, OT’s help people participate in the activities they want and need to do. This includes work, leisure, self-care, and caring for family.

OTs:

  • Perform assessments of functional ability and limitations.
  • Develop intervention to improve personal performance in activity.
  • Reassess and modify the treatment plan to attain client goals.
